LEE WEST
Lee West was attracted to the arts as a small child. She nurtured those interests at the university of Colorado and the Art Studemts League in New York City. While there she studied under Dagmar, then lead illustrator for ‘Vogue’ Magazine. Lee moved to Florida in 1971, after her stint in NYC as a sashion illustrator, and was immediately inspired by the flora and fauna of the South.
Paintings of flowers and landscapes are created in her studio from on-site sketches and photos. Designer of ‘Sea Life’ stained glass transforms the city of St. Petersburg Bay Vista Adult Recreation Building.
A past president of the Pinellas Park Art Society, creator of awards for ‘Pride in the Park’ and ‘Music without a Net’, she was co-owner of the ‘Midnight Pickle Art Gallery in old Palm Harbor.
Lee Shows at Florida Craftsmen, J.J. Watts Gallery, and participated in Art in Bloom at the Fine Arts Museum in St. Petersburg. She is currently a member of Artx5, doing group art shows with 4 other artists.
